Roxby Melbourne Loop

Melbourne -> Roxby Downs (via Big A)

By the numbers:

  • It takes 8hours15minutes to drive from Melbourne to Adelaide.
  • Yaris does almost 800km to the 42L tank. Paulette was unwilling to see if we could push it all the way to Woomera.
  • The Adelaide tour from Ravi takes 25minutes. This covers east, west, south and north Adelaide.
  • We got stuck in peak hour twice, it lasts about 2minutes.
  • Adelaide has at least one Panda.
  • We stayed on Level 10 almost the highest point of the Adelaide cityscape.
  • Only two interesting things discovered on the drive is the surprising distance between border town and and border.

Bordertown sign.*
And how full the Murray River was.

As you can see the trees along the riverbank are completely underwater.  *
Accommodation was purchased on the move from wotif.com and was pretty good on south terrace. Visited the city shopping street, saw Jammos pancakes but didn't consume, toured Ravi's dental hospital we ignored the "What are you doing here?" remarks from security and dentist ladies, consumed some haigh's chocolate (chocolate/caramel fudge and champagne chocolate), almost went to the zoo to see their precious panda and had dinner with Ravi and two of his college chums. All in one afternoon.

The scenic view from Grand Chifley Adelaide *

Decisions do not come easy for Paulette
* If these pictures are black for you it means Dane has lost his camera (in Melbourne). If you see a small Ixus 60/70ish in a Kathmandu binoculars case please contact Dane immediately, he is very sad.

The Smallish Adelaide -> Smaller RoxbyIf you are unhappy with blog see Dennis.

If anyone thinks the drive from Melbourne to Adelaide is boring Adelaide to Roxby is worse.

Along the way we had to stop for two things - a road-train and some Emus. Other than that the road was straight and lonely.

Anyone looking on googlemaps and not sure if the lakes have water. Some do some don't but none have much.
Emus causing a scene on and off the road.
Rain, Yaris driving around the very specific rain spots.
Arrived at destination with Yaris already dwarfed by Roxby.

Somebody asked for more photos,  hopefully this wets your appetite.
